Thriller genre

What is a thriller?

Thriller Film is a genre that goes around the idea of suspense. The aim for thrillers is to keep the audience alert at all times, making sure that their at the edge of their seat waiting to find out what hapens next. Thiller tend to usually have a protagonist who is set against a problem. No matter what sub-genre it will tend to consist of danger the protagonist against the antagonists this may involve fights throughout. Throughout a thriller film it will always end up leading to a highly stressful climax.

What a thriller consists of:

A thriller consists of many different aspects which include an antagonist and a protagonist. The antagonist is the villian who is usually after the protagonist, the antagonist usually wants something from the protagonist or might have a grudge or the protagonist may have something the antagonist wants. The protagonist is tends to be the hero in the story or they can also be the victim. So they can either be the person who saves someone/city or they may be saved by someone.

Another element of thrillers is suspense, this is the element that makes a thriller exciting. This element leaves the audience wanting more from the movies. The suspense is unpredictable, builds up to moments and is sustained.This is important because without the suspense element there's nothing that the audience would want from it resulting in thrillers not being as sucessful as they are.
